Erlen Mahilum, a writer and Silid Aralan Learner, participated in the Ampersand’s first-ever ‘Open Mic’ event last May 30, 2015 at the Bar Dolci, Forbeswood, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Ampersand, according to the description of the group,

They’re group had also published a folio of their works before, called: Shadowdancing.

Erlen Mahilum, also having passion for arts and literature joined in the group, and last Saturday the members of Ampersand gathered to share their works through an Open Mic. Erlen, accompanied by Mrs. Arlyne Soncuya –SAI Senior ILead co-learner, in the event –talked about her background and shared three poems. The first one was “Für Elise”, a poem she’d made while listening to Beethoven. The next one, was a tagalog poem about ‘moving on after break-up’ that she’d created with her younger sister, entitled “Kamusta Ka”, and the last one was corresponding to her speech in TURDTalks about her big dream to be in New York City that she’d entitled “#NYC”

The program was followed by more poem, slam-poetry and music performances by the members of Ampersand. It was just the first Ampersand’s Open Mic event and more Open Mics are coming.
