Silid Aralan, Inc. (SAI), in partnership with Rotary Club of Rodriguez, Mr. Julius and Christine “Tin-tin” Babao, held a literary contest for the Kasiglahan Village Elementary School (KVES) students last November 21, 2015 at the KVES SAI E-Library.
The literary contest themed “Batang Henyo: Bayani ng Panitikang Pilipino,” aims to showcase the literary and artistic aptitudes of the learners from KVES through a competition. There were seven categories: Storytelling, Story-writing, Poetry-writing, Slogan Making, Declamation, Poster Making and Folk Dance contest. The Storytelling contest participants all shared a common story entitled “Basura Monster”—a story written by Ms. Tintin Babao, which imparts the importance of taking care in our environment, while the inspirations for the slogan and poster making correspond to the theme of the event. However, there was only one participant in the Folk Dance contest; they received the prize for this category.
The winners were awarded by Mr. Arcie Mallari –SAI Founder and Executive Director, together with Mr. and Ms. Babao and a representative of the Rotary of Rodriguez. Event partners Mr. and Ms. Babao joined by “Jollibee” delightedly distributed the Jollibee-treats to the participants and learners from KVES.
