The Silid Aralan Summer Camp for learners started last May and ended on June 15, 2022. This year’s summer camp is a 10-day camp for Math and English lessons for selected learners from each learning hub. A virtual culminating activity was held after completing all sessions to celebrate the success of the camp.

The Silid Aralan learners and volunteers were joyful for completing the summer camp. According to one of the volunteers, it was a fun experience and the learners had a good time. They are thankful for being part of the activities and they wish to be part of them again next year.

The Summer Academy is conducted during the learners’ break from school. The activity is not a requirement but SAI encourages the parents to allow their child to participate in the camps since the workshops are free. The Summer Academy is comprised of two fun and interactive camps:

1. English Camp – a 10 – day story-based program focusing on reading comprehension.
2. Math Camp – a 10 – day themed-based program strengthening the basics of math.

This year, each learning hub is expecting a total of 20 learners: 10 from the Ground Zero Program and 10 from the iLEAD Program.

The Summer Academy started last May and is expected to end on June 15, 2022. There will be 5 sessions per week that will be conducted by the volunteer facilitators.

Last May 27, 2022, SAI and TDCX (PH) Inc. conducted an online activity called the Volunteerism 101 that aims to encourage and empower individuals to be part of the change they want to see in the community through volunteerism. The participants of the said activity were members of the TDCX Team. Yours truly was the resource speaker during the said event where I shared my insights and experiences as a volunteer. For me, sharing one’s experience is one of the best tools to ignite passion from the heart of others.

The employees of SAI finally saw each other again in person after 2 years since the pandemic started. SAI decided to push through with a physical gathering to hold three major activities – the Annual Planning, Team Outing and 15th Anniversary Celebration.

The Annual Planning was conducted at the Central Learning Hub in Rodriguez, Rizal last March 28, 2022. The following day, the team traveled to Tagaytay for an outing and for the celebration of SAI’s 15th Anniversary. The Chairman of the Board of SAI, Mr. Jose Antonio Banson, also went to Tagaytay to give a talk and to thank the team for supporting the organization. On the last day, the team continued the anniversary celebration with a trip to the museum.

The team cherished the days when everyone was together because the next gathering is still uncertain due to the pandemic.

All learning sessions officially ended last April 30, 2022. The Volunteer Co-Learners held a Virtual Culminating Activity for both online learners and phone call learners where they greeted them with congratulatory messages for accomplishing the Learning Year 2021-2022 in SAI.

SAI distributed tokens and certificates to the learners as ways to show appreciation for a job well done.

The LMT dropped off the tokens and certificates at the residence of the assigned parent leaders per location and provided them with a list of the SAI Learners under their assignment. The SAI learners were happy to receive their tokens and certificates.

This learning year has been so challenging for us all. But with all the support coming from our partners and supporters, we were able to overcome the challenges. To recognize and celebrate everything that transpired during the learning year, Silid Aralan held a Culminating Activity for all the learners. Our learners were very happy to receive their certificate & token as their award.

This activity reminds us to see the very reason, the end-all of our hard work despite the pandemic. We praise God for another year of learning!
