Last May 17, 2015 (Sunday), Mr. Arcie G. Mallari –Silid Aralan Inc. (SAI) Founder and Executive Director together with SAI Learner: Erlen Mahilum spoke at Cornerstone’s TEACHExpo conference held at Singson Hall in Ateneo Grade School.

Cornerstone is an educational program supported by Couples/Youth for Christ and CFC ANCOP-Tekton Foundation, which aims to help students in elementary and high school from public schools.(add details po.)

How Silid Aralan has transformed low-performing students to be someone that would create an impact to the community/society and the inspirations of Silid Aralan in its eight-long years journey was what Mr. Mallari shared to the Cornerstone’s educators in the TeachExpo. He tackled how the volunteers in Silid Aralan, by co-learning, were able to build a learning ecosystem where the learners found how to love learning that led them to be productive citizens who were able to give back to their community.

Mr. Mallari pointed out that teachers shall not go into the classrooms to teach, but to learn and share what they learned and he also promoted the education to be done in collaboration between the educators and the parents and the community. As the sharer on the said conference, Erlen Mahilum –a Silid Aralan learner, talked about her journey on how Silid Aralan motivated her to pursue her dreams in spite of the darkness. Mr. Mallari encouraged the educators in the said program to continue on share and touch children’s lives to soon have more empowered change-makers and a better future.
