Silid Aralan Inc. and Bear Hug Community Development, Inc. open a new learning hub with a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Silid Aralan Inc. marked another milestone in its mission to empower and uplift communities through learning and empowerment with the grand opening of their newest learning hub in Baseco, Manila. Through the partnership with Bear Hug Community Development Inc., learners from Baseco will be provided with learning opportunities that not only aim to educate them but also to empower them. The grand opening was held on September 20, 2025 and was graced by partners, learners, and community members. Silid Aralan was represented by Mr. Arcie Mallari, Mr. Julius Nico Saturno, four Senior iLEAD Learners who represented the voice and energy of the youth empowered by the initiatives of Silid Aralan, and the dynamic and vibrant team of Bear Hug Community Development, Inc. represented by Ms. Jane Alexandra Mata and Ms. Maria Teresa Hizon.

The event was filled with joy, excitement, and hope as dozens of children gathered to witness the unveiling of the new space. The warm yellow walls, symbolic of optimism and creativity, served as the backdrop for a powerful message displayed prominently: “Universe of Possibilities.” This message encapsulates the organization’s belief in every child’s potential and the power of community-led development.

During the ceremony, Mr. Arcie Mallari shared heartfelt words on the importance of nurturing children’s dreams and creating inclusive environments where learning is fun, meaningful, and driven by love. The learning hub is where every individual, regardless of background, learns and grows together with his/her peers. The highlight of the event was the symbolic ribbon cutting, where representatives from all stakeholders — leaders, partners, learners, and staff — came together to open the new chapter of the learning hub. It was not just the opening of a room, but the opening of countless opportunities for children and families in the community. The “Universe of Possibilities” is envisioned to be a safe, inclusive, and creative space where learners are free to explore, imagine, and pursue their passions. With the support of community partners, Silid Aralan, Inc. and Bear Hug Community Development, Inc. aim to foster a new generation of confident, compassionate, and capable young leaders.
