Cagayan de Oro and South Cotabato — Reaffirming the vital role of family in every learner’s educational journey, we at Silid Aralan, Inc. (SAI) conducted a series of Parents’ Orientations across our partner institutions: East City Central School, Hindangon Elementary School, Laconon Integrated School, and Pagalungan Elementary School.
As Silid Aralan’s Head Co-Learner, I had the privilege of leading these gatherings in close collaboration with our dedicated school coordinators, administrators, and volunteer co-learners. This orientation series served as our way of welcoming parents and guardians into the Silid Aralan co-learning ecosystem. Recognizing that personal growth begins at home, our sessions focused on aligning families with our core philosophy—unlocking inherent potential, building self-worth, and guiding children to become self-directed leaders.
Supported by enthusiastic school coordinators across all four partner schools, we focused on three vital pillars of our partnership:
- The Silid Aralan Strategy: Introducing parents to our socio-emotional co-learning approach that builds confidence and character alongside foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
- Parental Partnership & Engagement: Inviting parents to be Co-Learners alongside their children—actively participating in learning hub activities, supporting community gatherings, and growing together through Parenting Seminars.
- Creating a Supportive Home Environment: Sharing practical, everyday ways parents can encourage reading habits, reduce screen time distractions, and celebrate small victories at home.
School coordinators, teachers, and administrators expressed deep gratitude for mobilizing parent engagement early in the school year. With overwhelming attendance from mothers, fathers, and guardians, the orientations became a true two-way collaboration. We concluded on a high note of shared enthusiasm, gratitude, and mutual trust as we step into the new learning year together.
