MANDALUYONG CITY — True impact doesn’t always come from grand, distant projects; it comes from showing up every single day for the learners who need us most. This shared truth took center stage last June 22, 2026, as I stood on the campus of Rizal Technological University (RTU) to personally receive the ECSOrdinary Award: Honoring Ordinary People with Extraordinary Extension Services.
The awarding ceremony was deeply moving, bringing together passionate community advocates and education leaders who constantly go beyond their duties to bridge the gap between universities and grassroots communities.
For us at SAI, this recognition belongs to the ground team and the everyday heroes who choose commitment over convenience to create spaces of hope.
What makes the ECSOrdinary Award so meaningful to me is its core philosophy. It honors ordinary people whose steady, relentless efforts create real, lasting change in society. As a Head Co-Learner and the bridge between Silid Aralan, Inc. and RTU, I accepted this award for our joint initiatives that lift up public school learners and cultivate the true spirit of co-learning. Still, I know this recognition is not mine alone.
This milestone proves the power of deep, intentional collaboration. Through our work with universities like RTU, we are able to grow our mission—helping low-performing learners discover their life’s purpose and become self-directed leaders. It also serves as a beautiful reminder that the true measure of any educational institution is how deeply it serves the community around it.
Moving forward, our partnership with RTU will only grow stronger. We look forward to co-creating more innovative programs, mobilizing student volunteers, and building grit within our communities through 2026 and beyond.
